Cadaveric Practical Pelvic Trauma Approaches

Welcome to Manchester Pelvic Trauma Course. A pelvic trauma cadaveric approaches course aimed at consultants, senior and junior trainees, SAS and theatre practitioners.
This one day course will incorporate the development of surgical skills in a cadaveric workship with clinical decision making in pelvic trauma, from arrival at the Emergency Department to emergency management in the hybrid theatre and definitive treatment.
The faculty are all experienced pelvic surgeons, and the high faculty to participant ratio will ensure maximal hands on experience.
This course is supported by Synthes-Depuy. Any revenues will be donated to the Orthocycle charity , which recycles medical devices for less economically advantaged countries.
Attendees will need to bring hospital identification for admission. No cameras or telephones are allowed in the cadaveric lab.

JOSEPH ALSOUSOU
Course Convenor
Pelvis, Acetabulum and hip arthroplasty consultant surgeon at Manchester University Hospital NHS trust. He was fellowship trained in both Oxford and Cambridge. His clinical focus is on Pelvis trauma surgery, periprosthetic and complex hip arthroplasty. His academic work has attracted several awards including: EFORT, BOA, BOFAS, BASEM and ARUK awards. He is the founder director of Rooms4nhs.com charitable initiative

AMER SHOAIB
Course Director
Consultant orthopaedic limb reconstruction and foot and ankle surgeon at Manchester University Foundation trust. Amer is an experienced trauma and war surgeon. His experience extends from Bosnia, Afghanistan, Somalia and Syria. His is founder director of Orthocycle charity

JAI RAWAL

Jai is a Consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialist interest trauma, pelvic and acetabular surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He has a wealth of experience in P&A surgery and Trauma education.

MOHAMMED RAFI IQBAL
Faculty
Consultant Pelvic and Acetabular Orthopaedic Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He has a wide experience of pelvic and acetabular surgery, as well as contributing to the Major Trauma service in Salford. He completed a fellowship in Pelvic and Acetabular Surgery at King’s College Hospital in London, as well as a Hip Arthoplasty fellowship in Cambridge.

MUKAI CHIMUTENGWENDE-GORDON

Mukai Chimutengwende-Gordon is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. Her specialist interests are pelvic and acetabular reconstruction, hip arthroplasty and major trauma. She is an honorary clinical lecturer at Hull York Medical School She is the major trauma governance lead for the Hull major trauma centre.

MOHAMED KENAWY

Mohamed is a Paediatric Orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital, with an interest in hip surgery, adolescent hip preservation, limb reconstruction & complex trauma. His research interests are in the field of paediatric pelvic trauma & limb recon.
